I Need A Hobby // Cooking

Hello! And welcome to another installment of my hobby series! If you read Saturday’s post, where I reviewed all of my Q1 goals, you’ll know that the reading is going good… and that I failed epically at last month’s photography as a hobby challenge (if you missed that post, you can read it HERE). So this month I’m gonna double down!

Cooking

Everyone has to eat, right? And I do cook for myself during the week. And meal prep for the week’s breakfasts and lunches on the weekend. So it’s not like I CAN’T cook. But I get into rut and make the same [sometimes boring] things over and over again. And the truth is, I really HATE cleaning up. So I tend to make things I can just heat up on the plate I’ll eat from and then I can put it in the dishwasher. Easy peasy. But I would like to broaden my cooking horizons, so I thought it might be fun to try a meal service that sends you all the ingredients and you just have to follow the instructions to prepare it. And it just so happens I got a pretty hefty coupon in the mail around the same time I was contemplating this. Decision made!

Today I’m due to get my first shipment of Hello Fresh meals. Hooray! I went with the smallest plan available: two servings of two meals per week. Hopefully they’ll be waiting for me when I get home from work, otherwise I’m up the proverbial creek… but assuming they’ll be there, the two options I’ll have to choose from for my first foray with a Hello Fresh meal are Crispy Pork Milanase and Apricot Ginger Chicken. Yum!

The coupon was spread out over four weeks, so as of right now that’s all I plan to do. Which is just long enough to take the cooking challenge this month! I will report back on May 1 with how it all went down!

Photography

Since cooking is more or less something I do anyway and I’m really just expanding the way in which I cook, different foods, techniques, etc., I’m also going to reattempt photography this month.

I’ll blame the weather for my epic failure last month, because while we welcome Spring towards the end of March, it’s been pretty darn cold outside and thus not very enticing to the likes of me. Not that I have to take pictures outdoors to succeed at making photography a hobby… but I am in inspired by nature and I like to photograph nature and I suppose that’s just what I was telling myself #excuses

So I have my camera battery charged and I’m going to make a full faith effort at this. Let’s do it!

Have you tried a new hobby yet?

Many thanks and much love,
laf
