I Need A Hobby // Gardening, Revisited

Hello, Happy Wednesday and Happy May Day! It’s time for my monthly hobby update!

Still going strong with my reading hobby! For my April read, I completed Laura Vanderkam’s time management fable Juliet’s School of Possibilities, and started Jillian Michaels’ 6 Keys which I’ll continue into May and will probably keep as a background read, and pick another book for the official May title, still TBD.

I actually made some solid efforts at photography, and will continue to strive to improve my skills.

And cooking has been quite fun this past month with my Hello Fresh subscription (not sponsored). It’s been really yummy too! My biggest take away is that the thing that makes me feel like I’m not good at cooking is my sense of timing. It’s not that I’m bad at the actual cooking, it’s that I can never get everything completed to put on the table around the same time.. and if I’m being honest, I’m still not perfect. But the Hello Fresh recipe cards make it a whole lot easier, almost fool proof. I don’t think I’ll continue the subscription every week moving forward, but maybe as a treat every month or two if the menu includes something particularly scrumptious and tempting….

Now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for…! My May hobby! Last year, in late summer, I attempted to take up gardening. I wrote about it HERE, in the first official post of my hobby series. And considering how late it was in the season, I was happy with what I managed to cultivate. And now that spring is in full gear, I want to make the most of the warm weather and sunny days, bring my garden back to beauty and hone my green thumb even more.

My goals are to keep my flowers alive and to grow some herbs and actually use them in my cooking, and if possible, grow some veggies too! Though I don’t have a plot of land to plant them in… so they would have to be container veggies… does such a thing exist?? So much still to learn!

I’m also planning to fine tune my curb appeal and refresh my outdoor space design as well, and I figure what better time than now? Please check back at the end of the month for the reveal of my updated landscape!

Do you have a garden? What do you grow?

Many thanks and much love,
laf
