A Single Pattern
I think it’s safe to say that when you think of bohemian decor most likely you will conjure up images of mixed patterns all over the place. But if you’re just starting to dip your toe into the world of boho and want to play it safe, you can always begin by bringing a single pattern into your space. That’s not to say you need to make it a subtle pattern. It can be a bold pattern, but just used in a single element.
Most times you’ll see a pattern on a textile of some sort: a rug, blanket, pillow, curtain, etc. Sometimes, if you’re feeling more risqué, you can use pattern on a bigger ticket item, like a piece of furniture, or something more permanent, like wallpaper or tile.

Subtle Pattern(s)
Subtle pattern can still bring the boho. Maybe you’d like to try the mixed pattern look but want to take it slow. You can start with mixing two (or more) subtle patterns to up your game. It adds interest without being too jarring. A good tip is to mix a geometric or stripe with a more organic pattern, like a floral. Or mix the scale of your patterns: a large pattern with a smaller scale one. And to keep it subtle, use patterns of the same color scheme to keep contrast to a minimum.

Bold Pattern(s)
If you’re ready to go full tilt boho, try a mix of bold patterns! They can be colorful, or black and white. No matter the color combination, large scale, graphic patterns make quite a statement. And mixing them together takes it to an all new level! Remember, there are no rules, so use a crazy mix of layered patterns just because you like them. Have fun, go wild, GO BOHO!
