Go Boho // With Lighting!

Awww yea, we made it to the weekend! Just in time for part four of my new series, Go Boho! Can you believe how time flies??

If you missed the first three parts, you can check them out HERE (color), HERE (pattern), and HERE (texture)!

Today, let’s explore how to use LIGHTING to be your best boho selfie!

Go Boho with…

Twinkle Lights

Like duh, OF COURSE twinkle lights are at the top of the list for how to use lighting to get all of the boho heart eyes. You may think that twinkle lights scream dorm room, and not in a good way, right? But they don’t have to, not at all. Twinkle lights are a great way to add accent lighting to any space, inside or out. A strategically placed strand can bring a warm glow into a space that maybe wouldn’t normally have an opportunity for such a lighting feature. Around a kitchen window, or hanging from a curtain rod down the length of your draperies. Cascading around a mirror, perhaps, allowing the reflection to double the effect. In a vase, on a bookshelf. In a bathroom even? Away from water of course! The options really are endless though.

The irony of this selection of photos I am about to share is that about 80% of them are bedrooms..ha! But I was inspired by the way these rooms use twinkle lights in such a way that they feel nothing like a dorm room and more like a magical bohemian fairyland. Take a peek and tell me you don’t agree?

Woven Pendants

If you read my TEXTURE post, this should be an obvious option for bringing the boho into your lighting landscape. Besides a basket, a woven pendant shade is probably the easiest way to incorporate woven texture into your space. Woven pendants can be simple, or they can be more intricate, including fringe and macrame details or having fancy patterns mixed into their weave. They can be symmetrical or more free form in their shape. And they look great grouped together, hanging at varying heights. How much more boho can you get?

Check out how these rooms use a woven pendant (or two, or 10) to add bohemian charm and an earthy glow to their spaces!

Lanterns

Lanterns come in all shapes, sizes and styles, but no matter what they manage to sing boho at the top of their lungs (if they had lungs, that is)! Lanterns can range anywhere from the classic paper variety to more elaborate jewel encrusted orbs or intricately cut out globes and sconces that project geometric shapes onto the surrounding walls and decor. No matter the type, a lantern will add a well traveled exotic feel to any setting.

Browse through this collection of lanterns and see how they magically take the boho vibe up to a whole new level!

Some Random Boho-ness!

In my previous Go Boho posts I usually end with a mashup of all the previous tips for a full blown boho experience, and while you can certainly do that with lighting too, combining string lights, woven pendants and lanterns (there are a couple examples of that below), I thought I’d share a more random assortment of lighting solutions that will add a little touch of boho but maybe don’t fall into a big overarching category. Things like colorful geode inspired pendants, and fringe or floral chandeliers. Any mix of lighting styles really will add to the bohemian style, so you can do no wrong!

Enjoy this assortment of random boho lighting options that will add a little something extra to your space.
