Today is the final part of my Go Boho series!
If you missed the previous five parts, you can check them out HERE (color), HERE (pattern), HERE (texture), HERE (lighting) and HERE (heirlooms)! If you’ve been here all along, thank you!
Now, without further ado, let’s learn about the magic that PLANTS bring to the boho decor game!
Go Boho with…
Outdoor Plants
I think it’s pretty much a no brainer that plants scream bohemian, amiright? Can’t you just hear their little voices?? No? lol… Anything from succulents (to full blown cacti) to fiddle leaf fig trees and everything in between are a staple in any boho design. Greenery brings life to a space, literally! Along with a sense calm and serenity that’s at the very crux of the bohemian spirit.
If you don’t have the greenest of thumbs or your home has limited light and you’re not quite sure how you’d keep plants alive inside, start outdoors! You’re bohemian vibes don’t have to be limited within four walls, so branch out to the great outdoors! Using pots to contain your plants adds character and more of the bohemian vibe than just planting a garden in a flower bed. Add a touch of whimsy and personality with a variety of containers, hanging planters, plant stands, etc.
Check out these outdoor spaces that are seriously bringing the boho vibes.

Modest Plant-Mama Vibes
If you’re ready to introduce some greenery inside your home but are still nervous about keeping those babies alive, you can take it slow. There’s no rule that you have to go crazy and buy a bajillion plants and fill every free spot. One plant, two plants, three plants even? Perfect. As with your outdoor plants, take the opportunity to get some unique pots for your plant babies. That’s half the fun! Group them together at varying heights, using plant stands or furniture you already have. Pick a day to water them and stick to it, like Water Wednesday. If you’re like me though, you might need to ease yourself in to it. Keep your plants relatively close together (in one room even) so when it comes time for watering you don’t accidentally forget any outliers in another room.
Even with only one or two plants the boho vibe in this group of rooms is amplified by the presence of greenery.

Indoor Jungle
On the other end of the spectrum is a full blown indoor jungle! Disclaimer, this look and lifestyle isn’t for everybody! It certainly isn’t for me! I’d have to quit my day job if I had this many plants in my home, but it certainly screams boho, doesn’t it? Of course, as with everything, there are varying degrees in which you can implement an indoor jungle. A dense population along a single wall, or a full on surround sound experience. Up high, down low, all around greenery. You do you! Go BOHO baby!
Take a look at these rooms that have been transformed into indoor jungles. Could you be so bold?

Somewhere In Between!
And then there’s the somewhere in between. More than a couple but not quite a jungle. Perhaps you have a large grouping in your main living area. A plant or two in your kitchen. In your bathroom even, if you’re lucky enough to have a window (or you can totally go faux if you want to bring some “life” into the space, just saying). A few in your bedroom. As I say with everything, there are no rules. Just do what feels good to you and what you think you’ll be able to maintain.
Personally I’m a more towards the modest plant mama end of the spectrum. It’s about all I can handle in terms of keeping them alive. But I’d love to one day fall somewhere in between full blown jungle vibes and where I am now. Maybe once I move out of the townhome I’m in and have more natural light filling my space… We shall see!
Here are some spaces that have the perfect plant to other stuff ratio. Check out that living headboard, what what?? Love!
