Short & Sweet Spring Cleaning Checklist

Confession time: I am not a great housekeeper. I’d much rather be doing pretty much ANYTHING else. I’m not living in filth, but I can’t say I clean with any kind of enthusiasm. Or probably the regularity that I should. Shhh, don’t tell my mom, lol…

So while other blogs you may read this time of year will probably give you a list of things to deep clean as winter turns to spring (think vacuuming blinds and upholstery, washing curtain panels, steam cleaning carpets, dusting baseboards, etc), I’m going to suggest a short and sweet checklist of some out-of-the-box things to tackle this spring cleaning season. That’s not to say I won’t be doing the traditional cleaning tasks, but you know what I mean, right?

Boho On A Budget

Last week I wrote A LOT (I’m sorry, I didn’t mean for it to be that epic) about how I keep my finances in order: from how I tackle budgets and spending freezes to savings plans and more. If you missed it (and are interested), pour yourself a big mug of something good, get comfy and check it out HERE.

I really hadn’t planned to do a series on anything finance, but when I did a little rearranging to my blog schedule this week it worked out that my topic for today was going to be about how to achieve a boho look on a budget. Next weekend it just so happens that I have another financey-related post headed your way. So unintentionally a would-be series was born. I’ll try not to go on at length in today’s post, promise!

A Design Remix for Spring

Nope, not that kind of remi-remi-remix! Haha! That was my attempt at onomatopoeia in case you couldn’t tell, lol…

If you’ve been an HGTV fan for a couple of decades you may remember a little show called Design Remix. I loved this show, and I love the concept: updating your home by reusing things you already have in a new way to make a space look completely different, awake and rejuvenated!

How I Track My Financial Life

Budgets are SO. Damn. Sexy… said no one, ever, lol… okay, maybe some finance people say it. But I am by no means a financial expert. AT ALL. I do like me a budget, a spreadsheet for tracking expenses, and having a savings plan though. I guess it’s the Excel nerd in me, and the self preservationist.

I’m not perfect, and I definitely go on online shopping sprees from time to time. And then my brain catches up, and I realize what I’ve done. It’s all about balance though, right?

I Need A Hobby // Photography

Last month I introduced a new series on the blog all about hobbies. I’ll be trying new hobbies and rekindling old ones that I’ve let fall by the wayside. Last month I reintroduced reading as a hobby, fitting it into pockets of downtime instead of always scrolling through Instagram or Pinterest. Having the Kindle app on my phone made this a breeze and I even read a few pages while I was using my hairdryer #multitasking, lol

I still plan to read (at least one book per month), but this month I’ll be be adding another hobby into the mix: photography!

Project Plans // Study Redesign

Do you remember wayyy back in October when I shared my living room and study tour, and I said that I’d be sharing plans for the redesign of my study “very soon?” Well, now it’s almost four months later and here we are! That’s soon, right? Soon-ish? Soon enough? Haha.. anywho!

When I first was contemplating my living room design, before I even made settlement and moved in, I knew I wanted bookcases along the back wall under the soffit. And I liked the idea of a desk behind the couch. These two elements created a separate space I’ve been calling my study, thought I seldom actually use the space for more than a pass through to the back deck. I usually grab my laptop and hunker down on the couch. But I’d like to use the space more thoughtfully and I have some ideas for how I’d like to do that.

My Current Beauty Faves

Hello my lovelies! This week I shared my bathroom tour on the blog, so I thought I’d continue in the vein of self care and hygiene by sharing my current beauty faves. Everything from skin care and makeup, to my favorite products for hair and my daily/weekly routines.

Disclaimer: I am by no means a beauty expert, skin care expert, hair expert, anything expert, lol. I don’t know the exact best things, or methods. I just know what works for me, doesn’t cause me irritation or ill-effect and wanted to share my favorite products as of this moment. Shall we?
