Make It A Habit // Cleaning + Organizing

I am not a natural homemaker, nor am I a perfect housekeeper. At all. Not in the least. There, I’ve said it. It’s sad, but true.

But it’s the nature of “adulting” that you have to do these things, among many other things you may not want to do, things you may not be good at, things you should do. And keeping your house clean and tidy is one of those things. Right? So since it isn’t second nature to me, I need as much help as I can get in making these chores stick.

So how do I change my colors and make these chores stick as habit? Good question… let me know if you have the answer! lol…

Planning Ahead for Projects

Good morning! And happy Saturday! It’s Memorial Day weekend here in the states. And while it’s prime time for BBQs and pool parties with family and friends, it’s also a long weekend and the perfect time to tackle some home improvement projects too!

On Wednesday, I shared my newly updated house project list (HERE). I’m all ready to go! But with the list in hand, and smack dab in the middle of a self-imposed spending freeze, I find myself struggling to figure out the logistics of not spending money while still getting my projects done… Granted, not all of the projects require an outlay of cash. But some do, and of course those are the ones I want to tackle first!

To Do: House Projects // UPDATED

One of my very first posts (HERE) when I started the blog last year was a list of house projects that I wanted to tackle. The goal was to get as many of these things done before sharing a tour of each space. As I shared each room, I updated the relevant portion of the list, crossing off what was completed, and of course, adding more things to do! Today I’d like to revisit my project list to see what I already accomplished, reevaluate what I added previously and update it for new things I want to do.

Checking In // Spending Freeze #1

At the end of 2018 I decided that one of my goals for the new year would be to implement regularly-occurring spending freezes as a way to save some extra money, and to hopefully curb frivolous purchases at the same time.

Today I’m checking in to report on the first freeze / spending period cycle of the year. The results were eye-opening.

Q1 in Review + Goals for Q2

Good morning, happy Saturday! Spring is here and today is supposed to be beautiful! Thank you universe for a nice day on a WEEKEND! Hooray! Today I wanted to take a quick look back at how I did with my Q1 goals and share my goals for Q2.

I didn’t do a dedicated post about my first quarter goals, but I had set some general ones for the year and had some timelines to hit those goals floating around in my head (and in the Notes app on my iPhone… because I don’t always trust my head, haha). But I’ll admit here that I only achieved some of those goals, so let’s lay them all out on the table right now.

Q4 Goals Review

So guys, it’s happening! The year is coming to an end. What?! Just like I couldn’t believe that the fourth quarter was starting back on 10/1, I can’t believe the new year is just two days away. It went by in a flash.

So with the impending new year just days away, I thought today was a good time to revisit the goals I set for Q4 HERE, even though I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t hit too many of them, whomp whomp…

Make It A Habit // Meal Planning + Food Prep

I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while now, at least several weeks, maybe a couple of months even. But I always felt like I wasn’t ready. Like I was a fraud for speaking about diet and meal planning and food prep. You see, I love food. Good food, in particular. Some not so good for you food too. And while I wouldn’t say I binge, I can lose control sometimes. I do overeat occasionally. I want to lose weight (as of typing this I’m about 30 pounds overweight), but I don’t want to be on a diet. I want to find a balance that is a lifestyle change I can maintain and not feel deprived or sad about. But I’m no expert and I’m still working on what that balance is exactly.

Five Blog/Brand Goals for Q4

Monday marked the beginning of the fourth quarter, can you believe that? The months are flying by! Slow down 2018!!

Since launching my blog two months ago, I’ve had some ups and downs. I had planned all of my content before I started, and then I got off track and had to regroup and replan and oh boy! The second attempt has gone a lot smoother, but I’m still facing some hurdles. Hello procrastination! Then I get all worked up about missing my self-imposed deadlines. I need to chill. But I also want to set some goals this quarter to push myself, and propel this little blog forward.
