I Need A Hobby // Meditation

Happy December everyone! How are we already at the end of this year? This year flew by (and admittedly dragged on at times too)! Today I’m here to share my final hobby check-in post!

That is, my final hobby post ever. I’ve decided to discontinue this series in the new year, even though I do plan and hope to reattempt the hobbies I flaked on this year (including Photography, Painting, Sewing, Bullet Journaling, and Hand Lettering), among other new ones, in 2020. The pressure and feelings of failure each month isn’t good for my mental state, lol– this was supposed to be fun after all! But I definitely did enjoy (re)discovering a love for reading, cooking and gardening.

Let’s see how I did with my hobby list this past month, shall we…?

I Need A Hobby // Crocheting

Hello hello! I’m back for another hobby check-in post! Are you bored of reading these yet?? Because I’m getting bored of writing them! Hahaha…

But for real, my intent with this hobby a month challenge was to try new things and see what I enjoyed most so that ultimately I could/would incorporate them into my daily life. If you’ve been reading along the past couple (few?) months, you’ll know that I haven’t made much progress at my attempts. Every month has been the same, and SHOCKER, this month is no different!

Only two months to go, so let’s keep it up shall we? Even if only for appearances…

I Need A Hobby // Hand Lettering

Hey, hey! You know what time it is? Hobby time! I swear the days are literally (well, not literally) flying by!

Today will be a very quick check in (promise!) because just like last month, I am wondering why I still do this post haha, but we only have three more months to go and I’m gonna stick with it even if I don’t have anything new to say. Ha!

So here goes it!

I Need A Hobby // Sewing

It’s that time again! Time for my monthly hobby update!

Seven months in and I feel like I’m finally getting the hang of this, doing what I intended originally and adding hobbies in month after month. Those that stick seem to work their way into my days, weeks, months and those that were less of a thrill have fallen by the wayside. And I’m okay with that. What would I do if I had 12 hobbies going all at once? lol… I’d have no time to go to work and definitely no time to write this blog. Yet here I am, so I think it’s an overall success!

Shall we check in?

I Need A Hobby // Painting

Happy Monday! And happy start to the second half of 2019! Can you believe it? Time for my monthly hobby update!

I’m not gonna lie, this month has been hard. For emotional reasons with the anxiety around my dad’s surgery mid-month and his ongoing hospital recovery everyday since. Didn’t have a lot of leftover time for hobbies after working all day during the week and hospital visits at night. Free time went to day to day personal and home upkeep and sleep #exhausted. So this will probably be a quick post…maybe, lol…

I Need A Hobby // Jewelry Making

Hello, hello! It’s time for my monthly hobby update!

Reading…still at it! Though I was a little late starting May’s read, but I chose Planting Dandelions by Kyran Pittman, which I had on my Kindle ages ago and had never read it. And quite honestly didn’t even remember what it was about. I chose it because it sounded like it would go with May’s gardening theme… but it’s not about gardening, lol… it was good though. Well, I haven’t finished it yet, but it’s good so far and I will finish it early this month. It’s a memoir of sorts. Poignant and humorous. I’m enjoying it. I also plan to read Michelle Obama’s Becoming this month. And 6 Keys by Jillian Michaels is still simmering on the back burner… I’ll pick it up here and there if the spirit moves me.

I Need A Hobby // Gardening, Revisited

Hello, Happy Wednesday and Happy May Day! It’s time for my monthly hobby update!

Still going strong with my reading hobby! For my April read, I completed Laura Vanderkam’s time management fable Juliet’s School of Possibilities, and started Jillian Michaels’ 6 Keys which I’ll continue into May and will probably keep as a background read, and pick another book for the official May title, still TBD.

I actually made some solid efforts at photography, and will continue to strive to improve my skills.
