3 Ways To Bring The Boho—Through Layering!

Are you wanting to bring some boho flair into your home but aren’t sure how to do it? I love to incorporate touches here and there in an effort to bridge the gap between minimalism and maximalism, and blend my just right happy medium of “in-the-middleism” that I talked about HERE on Wednesday.

One of my favorite ways to incorporate the boho trend is by layering items I already have to give my space an easy, carefree, relaxed, lived-in look. Today we’ll look at three ways to let your boho side shine by layering.

In-The-Middleism

What do you picture when you think of minimalist decor? Stark black and white? Maybe Scandinavian design comes to mind…? How about when you think of maximalist decor? Lots of clutter? Many colors and patterns? Crammed with furniture? There are times when I like both of these styles. But I find that I gravitate somewhere more in the middle of the two extremes. So I coined the term “in-the-middleism” to describe my design style.

Style Spotlight // Master Closet

On Wednesday I shared my master bedroom reveal. If you missed it, you can see it HERE. In that post I kept my closet doors closed, so I could reveal it right here, right now!

I’m definitely spoiled since I get the entire closet in the master to myself. I’ve been trying to pare down my clothing. A lot of it doesn’t really fit anymore. I’m only keeping the pieces I really love as “what if” pieces. Everything else I’m getting rid of. These photos are after five big bags have been removed for Goodwill. I’m getting there, but it’s a process lol..

House Tour // Master Bedroom

Hello! Welcome back! It’s been quite a few weeks since the last leg of the house tour, but today we continue on to the Master Bedroom. If you missed any of the other spaces, you can catch up by visiting my outdoor spaces, my entry, kitchen and dining room, my living room and study, and all the in-between spaces on the way upstairs. Now, on to the Master. Enjoy!

Goals for MY New Year

Happy New Year! Oh, wait—what? I’m a month late?? Haha… if you read my post about my take on New Year’s then you know that I treat my birthday as my own personal New Year, rather than give into the hype (and pressure) of January 1st. Luckily for me my birthday is at the end of January so it doesn’t seem so far off and I can use January as a trial period. I set three pre-resolutions in THIS post, and basically failed epically at all of them. Well, maybe not the junk mail one, only slightly failed at that. So I’m keeping those on my list and adding the bigger, full-tilt goals below.

I Need A Hobby // Reading

Happy Friday everyone! I took this week off from my 9-5 gig in honor of my 35th birthday, which I just celebrated on Wednesday. It’s been SO cold here in Pennsylvania that I’ve pretty much just stayed indoors this week (except for a trip to IKEA (!) on Monday and my birthday dinner on Wednesday). To fill the time I’ve been cleaning out and organizing a few spaces that have gotten wayyy out of control (after binge watching Tidying Up on Netflix over the weekend). I’m jumping on the Marie Kondo bandwagon and getting rid of what doesn’t spark joy! But more on that next week!

Today I want to restart my series on hobbies that I began last year with my gardening post (HERE) and never continued beyond that. So the plan is that every month I will be introducing a new hobby I want to tackle, and hopefully by the end of the year I’ll have a few new things that I enjoy doing to fill my free time more thoughtfully.

First up, reading!

40 x 40

Hi everyone! I took a little blog break after the marathon that was Blogmas. It’s good to be back!

And I have big news! Today is my birthday! Hahaha… yep, it’s true. I turned 35 at 9:17 this morning. I’m not sure how I feel about it quite yet. Old, maybe? I’ve already felt old for quite a while haha…so no change from yesterday. Over the hill now and on a downward slide to 40? Ahhhh! Most definitely that’s how I’ve been feeling the past few weeks and now it’s just official.

11 Activities For Winter Fun

There are 11 weekends (including this weekend) left until the start of spring on March 20. If weather permits, of course you can go sledding, skiing, snowboarding, make a snowman or have a snowball fight, etc. Or if the spirit moves you, you can go ice skating. But I don’t particularly like being cold, lol, so I’m putting together a list of 11 warm activities to get you through the rest of the cold winter!

A Fresh Take On New Year’s

First and foremost, Happy New Year!!

Now, I shouldn’t say this is a completely new idea, because I’ve been doing it the past couple of years. But it’s something different from the norm, or at least I haven’t heard anyone else talk about it.

New Year’s Day is January 1, and my birthday is January 30. So rather than give in to all the hype that is the media blitz about goals and resolutions at this time of year, I allow myself some grace. During the month of December, I mull over what it is I want to achieve in the new year, some of which I implement on the 1st and some I delay until MY new year, my birthday, at the end of January.
