BBG Pre-Training Week 1 Check In

Good morning, happy Saturday and happy weekend!

So guys, I did it! I actually started BBG this week like I said I was going to in this post. Yay!!! I made modifications for my back and fitness level, and I didn’t follow everything superrr strictly, but I did something! I still sweat up a storm and was sore the next day. And I’m proud of myself for doing it. So I wanted to come on today and just check in with you all, and give you the scoop on how it went!

What I Did

Monday morning // Day 1 of the program is Legs & Cardio, but by cutting out the high impact exercises I think I missed out on the cardio part. I did a 5-minute warm-up on my stationary bike though. Then I went through each of the remaining exercises just 1x each. I didn’t rush, and I didn’t do as many as I could in the 7 minute circuit like you’re guided to. And I still got a good workout in. I was sore for the next couple of days though and had trouble walking up and down stairs and sitting and standing. Leg day, amiright???

Tuesday evening // Day 2 is for low intensity steady state (LISS) cardio. The plan was to go to the gym after work and do my normal routine. But there was a huge storm brewing (check out the cloud on my Insta post here) that made me change my mind. It ended up NOT raining when I actually would have gone to the gym… of course! But by then it was decided, and I was staying in. So I used the stationary bike for as long as my butt could handle it, haha. Which was about 20 minutes.

Wednesday morning // Day 3 is Arms & Abs, and I only cut out one of the exercises (Lay Down Push Ups (on knees)) that had aggravated my back the last time I attempted the program. But otherwise I did a warm-up on my bike again, and went through each exercise 2x and felt it in my abs the next day!

Thursday evening // Day 4 is LISS again. I ditched the gym and took a 30-minute walk outside instead.

Friday // My intention was to do Day 5 (the optional Full Body circuits) on Friday, but it just didn’t happen in the morning. And it certainly wasn’t happening in the evening. I was exhausted from the work week and fell asleep on the couch instead.

Saturday morning // Saturday is supposed to be Rehabilitation but I did the Full Body circuits this morning instead. My back was hurting when I woke up, so I actually started with my PT exercises. Then I did the warm-up, followed by the circuits. I cut out three exercises this time, but I did regular Pushups (on knees) instead of the Lay Down Push Ups. So really I only skipped the two high impact exercises. Then I took a 15-minute walk into town to get a coffee at Wawa.

What’s Next?

I’m gonna keep at it! So Pre-Training Week 2 starts on Monday! I was chatting with my cousin (hi Meg!) about how sore I was after leg day. She’s gone through BBG multiple times, and she said the foam rolling the program recommends for rehabilitation really helps. So I’m gonna get me some foam rollers and hope it eases some of the pain. I won’t let leg day stop me from continuing on!

I’ll be back to check in after I’m through the Pre-Training!

Many thanks and much love,
