House Tour Update // Stairway

I’m baaack! I’m popping in today to share a little house project/update I’ve been slowly working on for a couple of weeks and just completed (this morning). I finally hung that gallery wall I’ve been wanting to add to my stairway! Hooray!

I first shared my stairway in my Powder Room to Laundry house tour post (HERE). There wasn’t much to see then, and I still have projects on my to do list, but I’m happy with the progress so I wanted to post an update for you all. Shall we?

Before

This steeply angled, don’t stare into the light photo is the only one I have (or at least I have easy access to) of the before. It can only go up (pun totally intended) from here.

During

My original plan was to make sure all of the frames were higher than an imaginary handrail, so I measured up at least the 36″ from the center of each tread to start my photo placement. This was just in case I ever want to put a real railing up on this side of the stairway. Or so if I had to lean against the wall while descending the stairs I wouldn’t knock the frames off the wall. But I then promptly threw that idea completely out the window. A couple of progress shots here.

The frames are simple flat panel with plastic inserts (just in case I do knock them off the wall) from IKEA and Michaels. I put them up using Command velcro strips (my fave).

After

And the final result!

So what do you think? I’m happy with the final product! And if/when I get bored of certain photos I can easily pop the frames off the wall, replace the art, and put them back up.

Still-To-Do List Check-In
  • Style cabinet at bottom of the stairs
  • Add a catchall basket on stairs
  • Add more wall hangings
  • Paint handrails
  • Change handrail brackets
  • Add a gallery wall up the stairs

How do you do gallery walls?

Many thanks and much love,
laf
