My Summer Read(ing) List

When I was in school, summer reading was not something I enjoyed. Now I love it!

I love reading stories set in summer, have summer in the title or take place in a beach setting (even though I’m not a beach person, ha). I actually try to do this with all seasons. It’s so fun and really immersive, like I’m meeting a new friend and hearing all about their latest adventures.

My “summer” TBR is long. I bought this shirt and made it my motto: “So many books, so little summer!” SO TRUE! And while I didn’t read ALL of the books, I did read quite a few that have been on my list for a while now. Success!

I also like to get caught up on the latest releases from my favorite rom-com authors, who all tend to release in Spring/Summer: Emily Henry, Abby Jimenez, Carley Fortune, Lucy Score.

So without further ado, my fiction (Spring and) Summer Read List!

My Summer Book Report

I had a lot of 5 stars reads this summer. And the 4 stars were also all really good, fun reads too. Some standouts for me were One Golden Summer by Carley Fortune and Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry. Both authors are always a favorite each year.

I also really enjoyed The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston. This was my first read of hers. I mentioned in my Taylor Jenkins Reid post HERE that I often find it hard to accept magical reality in a story, but this one was really good! I liked it a lot and now I want to read more Ashley Poston. TBR!

And finally (pun intended), Finally Mine, the second book in Lucy Score’s Benevolence series was a favorite read. Probably my FAVORITE favorite. A little less spicy than her books normally are, which I actually preferred. It was the gem of the summer for me.

I’m glad I decided to read this older series of Lucy’s this summer (it was actually prompted by the Summer Kindle Challenge to read a book that’s part of a series, and I gobbled them up, reading all three within a 12 day span!). I have loved all of Lucy’s books read to date. I’ve already decided that my main fiction goal for 2026 is to tackle the rest of her backlist (36 books I believe, between this October and the end of next year), plus her new release coming in March (book 2 of Story Lake series), of course.

Besides a few standalone Lucy Score books, I have a couple other fall fiction reads lined up on my TBR for the next couple of months. Looking forward to them!
