It’s the last day of 2025! My new goals are already set (more on that next week!), but before I close out the year, I wanted to circle back around to my goals for 2025 and see how I did since my last check in HERE. Shall we?
Area: Me
Subcategories: Self, Health, Wealth
Overarching Goal: Strive for self improvement, strength and security.
Mini-Goals:
Improve my cooking skills – I’m not a horrible cook (I’m worse at doing dishes, that is, I don’t like doing them), but I really have no scale for determining if this was a win. I did not check it off in my Google sheet goal tracker…
Glow up my style – as I mentioned in my mid-year check-in, I think this will always be a work in progress. But I am satisfied with the progress I made this year, and I think I’m in a good place, so I give this a gold star: check!
Stick to schedules – spoiler alert, this will be on my 2026 goal list next week… that should say all you need to know!
Lose 20+ pounds – see above…
Reflect regularly – I fell off with the morning pages and my attempt at PM pages was short lived. I have consistently completed Monthly Top 10 lists though, and those have been fun to do and to look back on as the year progressed. Overall I consider this a win for this year.
Increase net worth – completed!
Practice slow spending – I am marking this goal as achieved, even if I wasn’t perfect with it. I have created a new system that I will implement next year…
Hit 2025 milestones for savings goals – as of today, all of my savings goals for the year are completed 🙂
Area: We
Subcategories: Friends and Family
Overarching Goal: Develop deeper connections with the important people in my life.
Mini-Goals:
Make progress on the Mom list! I had very high ambitions at my mid-year review, and while I didn’t complete everything I shared there, I am considering this goal achieved (but there is still more to do, check back for next week’s post and more details, I know you are riveted!)
Connect with cousins more – I probably would give myself a C on this, maybe a B- but I’m still checking it off as completed this year (and also migrating it forward…)
Become a fur-mama – it’s not that I don’t want a couple of kitties to call my own, but I have nixed this for now. To be re-evaluated when I live in a different home…
Get together with my best friend at least 4x per year – did this three times, so not checking it off– but am happy nevertheless! And you probably already guessed, it will be on next year’s list too.
Area: Spaces
Subcategories: Home, Auto and Digital
Overarching Goal: Simplify, systemize and spruce up my spaces.
Mini-Goals:
Declutter and organize everything! I think “everything” was a bit ambitious lol, but I did work on several areas and also made an effort to use up what I had before I purchased something new and this was a success. I checked this one off!
Make progress on my Project Punch List – I did all of the big maintenance tasks and checked quite a few fluff items off the list too. I just did a mental walk through and re-wrote the list for 2026 as one of my December action steps for this goal and I feel good. Check!
Get maintenance tasks completed – see above 🙂
Clean up the Jeep – inside I gave it a glow up but never got it washed… it might be going on years without a bath at this point. I know, it’s bad! Next year!!!
Test drive a Mazda Plug-in Hybrid SUV… this did not happen, and is tentatively on next year’s list as a bonus goal… TBD…
Sort and systemize digital files and photos – I didn’t do this at all. I did work on my Notes app, and also Notion– and I started to declutter browser bookmarks. But not my actual files… and definitely not the photos. You would probably guess correctly if you think this will show up again on next year’s list…
Area: Play
Subcategories: Hobbies, Experiences and Entertainment
Overarching Goal: Cultivate creativity and encourage experience, big and small.
Mini-Goals:
Read 18 fiction books – final tally is 38 novels (actually this might include 2 short stories but still, doubled my goal of 18)!
Develop my drawing style – I drew a little bit, but I definitely didn’t do it with the intention of honing my craft. Next year!
Try different artsy activities – this is a fail for the most part, but spoiler alert…
Have an adventure/experience at least 4x/year – only did 3 of 4 here, so not checking this off but it was not a total loss and definitely better than nothing. My mom and I went to two movies– Jurassic World and Downton Abbey– and went to a community choir Christmas concert early this month!
Watch all of Grace & Frankie – I loved watching this! Completed it on 12/28– almost right down to the wire lol
Finish my 2024 Music Jar… complete! Found a couple of artists that I really like beyond what is just on the radio.
Area: Work
Subcategories: Positivity and Joy, Extracurriculars and Other Projects
Overarching Goal: Approach my time at work with joy, while expanding my skills and scope.
Mini Goals:
Approach customers/coworkers with positivity and joy – I definitely backtracked on any progress I made on this one as the year progressed. Will be reattempting!
Improve social media metrics – I don’t know what the starting metrics were so I have no idea if I did this lol– though I think I saw a few new follower notifications throughout the year…
Take time off regularly – this is completed!
Complete other projects – I am not checking this off (though I did make pretty good progress on the brochure) and of course, migrating to next year’s list!
In total, I “only” achieved about 50% of my mini goals. But if I look at the overarching goals, and then how many of the mini goals in each category I checked off, it’s more like a 50-72% success rate (except in my work category)– which really isn’t bad at all! I should be proud, and I am proud. But of course, I can’t help wishing I checked everything off.
Every year I tell myself to set fewer goals, but I can’t help making a long list of things I want to accomplish. Spoiler alert, my 2026 list will be similar…
How did your goals go this year?
