Monday Musings: How I Plan My Life

Good morning! Welcome to the first Monday Musings post of 2026! My intention here is to check in weekly with something non-design related whereas the rest of my weekly posts will be more in that realm (not always though). My goal is for these to be short posts… 300ish words, thought I’m not entirely tied to that, or optimistic I can be so short winded lol…

So how do I plan my life?

I tend to over complicate a lot of things, including my systems for planning. I am wanting to simplify that though.

My planning tools include:

  • Your Path Forward – this a program by Sarra Cannon and is for long term visioning and then planning how to get there. I have used this for both personal and business goals.
  • Goals With Laken – I have used the goal setting workbook and watched the workshops for the past two or three years and find it helpful and enlightening for one-year time horizon goal setting, and breaking those into quarterly and monthly goals.
  • 6 Months 4 Life – this is an unofficial system shared by Sarra Cannon that I am intrigued by and want to implement— focusing on making changes in 4 areas of life over 6 months. This is more for personal self improvement goals.
  • HB90 – this is Sarra Cannon’s quarterly goal planning system that I use for LAF Lines.

My ecosystem currently includes:

  • Notion – for databases and reference mostly
  • Apple Notes app – for brainstorming and list making
  • Google Sheets – for goal tracking (Press Reset, and ones I’ve made)
  • Notion calendar – for pulling in all of my calendars
  • To Doist app – for brain dumps and today’s top tasks (aim for three)
  • Habit app – to track daily habits in the moment
  • Paper Planner – to organize my week at a glance

How do you plan your life? Or do you?
