Monday Musings: Future Planning

I am most certainly a card-carrying planner through and through. I love brainstorming details of a plan, hashing out the logistics, setting a color code with pens and markers and higlighters, etc. The executing is a different story… and something I’m still working on.

Future planning sounds the perfect thing for someone like me. Plan, plan, plan til your heart’s content. The future never really comes, does it? Its very name says it, it’s in the future… but this year is about reinvention, so I’m embracing the execution!

I’ve mentioned Sarra Cannon and her courses HERE (and probably elsewhere too) before, and Your Path Forward is all about future planning and then making that plan a reality. I’ve gone through the course a couple of times now, once for my LAF Lines business and again this year for the big health goal that I set for myself.

I won’t go into all the details here, as it is a paid course, but I feel like Sarra has a real knack for taking something so large and nebulous, like a vision for your future 10 years down the road, and plotting a plan for getting there. She makes it easier to dissect the big picture, and digest what’s needed to get there, then embrace and execute.

There’s always the likelihood (or should I say guarantee?) that life is going to life, throwing a wrench into your plans. The beauty of YPL is that it allows flexibility, following a pace of real life and what can fit.

For my business, I am trying to take the future plan I constructed when I first went through YPL and implement the action steps using Sarra’s other course HB90 (which she suggests trying). We’re only halfway through Q1 and I can’t say for sure I’m on track, but it’s okay.

And for this year’s health goal, I need to reevaluate the order of my steps, but I’m confident they will help lead me down the right path.
