Last month I shared my project punch list for March HERE and that I was going to continue doing this every month, but I thought this time I’d try sharing a whole quarter’s worth of house projects instead! Honestly, I’m overwhelmed already…
Before I jump into Q2’s list, how did I do with March? I bought a new office chair (as of this writing, I have not assembled it or tried it out so TBD how this turned out). I did the two bedroom artwork projects. If you missed the fireplace art, you can see it HERE. And the evil eye reveal will be coming up with a spotlight on my jewelry storage refresh in the summer. I did not paint the fitness room ceiling, but no real shocker there (I didn’t even buy the paint yet). I have not even rescheduled this. And I nixed the laundry pull out shelf idea…
So what’s coming up over the next three months?
April
- Clean oil spots in parking spaces – I attempted this a couple times last year but didn’t have a whole lot of luck. Short story is, my Jeep had a gnarly oil leak (that we thought was fixed a couple different times, now it finally is) and it made a giant mess. I just want the spots gone. What would be nice is if the HOA just repaves our parking lot which would take care of the whole thing for me lol, but that’s another kind of aggravation…
- Fill hole in brick w/ spray foam insulation – there’s a nice size hole in the mortar in the brick near my front door, which is a perfect size for little critters to get in (and in they get).
- New door to back patio – have I mentioned anything about this here on the blog? I can’t recall (oh, yes probably on my annual goals post). Here’s the reader’s digest version: I did some online window (door?) shopping and have a good idea of what I want, but I do need to go in store to see them in person. The wrench is that any outside modifications have to be approved by my HOA. The HOA architectural approval form includes the installer and an installation date/timeframe. But I’m not going to purchase the doors until I know they’re approved, so how do I know the installer and install date? Hopefully Lowe’s has experience with something like this. It’s causing me anxiety and I keep putting off going to Lowe’s. I had wanted all the prep work done in Q1 so I could actually get it completed in April, but now I’m shifting and just wanting it all done by the end of Q2, so prep work has moved to April and then we’ll go from there…
- Paint front door jamb – I did a first coat a couple of years ago but the paint dried up and so I need new paint…
- New/fix coat hooks – I have an artistic looking coat hook/rack thingy that I really like and has been with me for almost 11 years, but it has been having some issues recently, separating from the mount and pulling away from the wall. Ideally I’d like to fix it instead of replace it. So we’ll see!
May
- Privacy plant/fence solutions – I have a fence around my deck, but between my deck and the house (they’re not connected) there’s a big enough gap that my neighbors could look at me if they were so inclined. I’m not a fan of this. I want to come up with a pretty way to create a fence, possibly with tall plants. TBD…
- Clean green off of deck steps – I did the whole deck two years ago and re-stained it too and it has held up pretty well since then, but the steps are in need of some TLC now, shouldn’t be too big of a project…
- Caulk “brick” near door trim – I have a faux brick wall adjacent to my front door. I had filled the cracks of the foam panels with joint compound to make it look more realistic, but I never did it where the panels abut the door molding.
- New Quince coverlet for bed – this definitely isn’t a necessity but it is something I want. I don’t love the coverlet I got last year (it has a square stitching on it and it never lines up quite right and makes my OCD-like tendencies flare up). They have one that’s more like a pin-tuck look that I think I’ll go for this spring (more forgiving in its alignment on the bed), and perhaps in a more playful (plum?) color.
June
- Remove blackout from kitchen blinds – this is less for the blackout feature and more for how it looks from the outside. It’s tedious and I am not looking forward to it (mostly because the kitchen window is hard to reach).
- Fill holes in and paint kitchen window trim – see above, same deal. Well, maybe a little less of a headache.
- New garbage disposal – the disposal works fine, but the flange broke and as far as I can tell it’s all one unit. TBD when the plumber comes for the yearly inspection.
- Paint side of cabinet above stove – the cabinet over my stove is odd, and I recently realized the side of it is a strange color (it doesn’t match the rest of the cabinet) so I may paint it the wall color (except I don’t have the paint anymore, are we sensing a trend with me and paint?), so maybe I will disregard this project… for now.
This seems like a lot but I think it’s a good mix of purchase, small project, big project, or have someone else do and I’ll just pay them. Or maybe I’m just being optimistic. I’d really like to get at least 80% of these tasks done. That would be a win in my book!
What projects do you have coming up?
