Jewelry is a beautiful and often fun/playful expression of personality. Little works of art (or sometime chunky works of art)! So why hide it away in a box? Last week I shared five tips for styling your home for/from real life HERE. And I think the jewelry display in my bedroom is a perfect example of that in action!
In December of 2020, I shared an overhaul of my vanity corner HERE, which includes my collection of jewelry, most of which is on display. That post also showed what it looked like before. Wow! Kind of a hot mess, huh?
Over the years I’ve tweaked it here and there. I don’t have pictures of all the in-between (or at least I can’t find them), but at one point I had added more of the tiny Command hooks and displayed smaller necklaces, and I relocated bracelets to the then abandoned hooks above my vanity mirror. It was an improvement, but looking back at it now, it was still a work in progress.
Recently I pulled all those tiny Command hooks off the wall, then had to repair the wall in quite a few spots… Some progress shots can be found below. Then, The Reveal!
The paint I had leftover from my bedroom was very thick and almost useless (11 years later lol)… so I added a little water and managed to get it looking halfway decent (just don’t look up close). I had plans for that blank space so I wasn’t super concerned with perfection.
The Reveal

The evil eye mirror to protect me from… well… the evil eye, as I get ready for the day. And to fill that blank space…

A peek at the jewelry shelf in the alcove. Less often worn pieces are in the closed storage at the back. Upfront from left to right are my rings, hoops in the clear crystal container, bracelets and watch bands in the blue goblet, and some more rings (that don’t fit at the moment) in the container topped with the gold birdie.

Most of my rings live in THIS organizer. I have them grouped by how I usually will wear them together for easy styling in the morning.

I upgrade my makeshift earring holder from the cooling rack I had been using previously to this DIY solution, using THIS metal sheet cut down and inserted into an Ikea FISKBO frame. It works for now… I might need a few more pairs of colorful earrings to fill it out, what do you think?

And finally, a chaotic little L dish for my most worn studs and small hoops. Not everything can be a work of art…
As with most things in life, I think this corner is one of those spaces that will be a work in progress for as long as I live here. Or as long as I’m wearing jewelry, wherever I live. It’s mostly practical (so I can see my everyday jewelry while I’m getting ready), but also adds some visual interest to this spot. I’m really happy with how it’s looking at the moment, as long as I keep it neat…
Do you display jewelry as decor?
