Are you having Déjà vu? Yea, me too. I already posted about Regrouping HERE, but apparently I need another reminder… Earlier this month, I shared my plans and tips for a low maintenance summer HERE and then proceeded to jam pack my June with all these goals and projects that are big and time consuming.
Why did I do this? I had a good May. I felt positive about my progress and momentum. I thought I could do more. Spoiler: I cannot do more. And it doesn’t jive with the summer I want to experience this year.
So it’s time to regroup… again!
What does regrouping look like this time? Well, I’m letting go of the strictness I’d been implementing with my systems that I talked about HERE. What is really necessary? I’m scaling my resets down to the bare minimum for the season (and maybe forever). I’m also postponing some goals. Or making them smaller/slower. Lowering my expectations, not giving up entirely.
The Artist’s Way
I’m behind on my self imposed end of summer deadline for this. So I’ve decided two things: first, I’m going to restart today; and second, I’m going to take it slower (spend two weeks for every one week in the book/course), so that means it will finish up in at the end of November instead of August. Sounds good!
I will do the reading over first week (Monday to Sunday), then do the tasks during the second week (Monday to Friday), then the Artist date on the second weekend of the cycle. I feel like this is a good cadence.
30-Day Health Challenge
I started off halfway decent with this challenge, not perfect— but not horribly. And last week it just all went to hell. So I’m pushing it to July, but not giving up entirely this month. I need to figure out something that will work for me. Forever. I want my health to be a priority, yet I don’t prioritize it. More on this to come!
Media Consumption
There were a couple of shows I wanted to watch on Apple TV+ this year (Shrinking Season 3, The Last Thing He Told Me Season 2, and Season 4 of the Long Way series), so I got a monthly subscription back in April that I planned to keep for Q1, and I have been rushing to watch everything in those 3 months. But I have summer shows I want to watch, so I decided I’m going to extend my membership through Q3 because why rush? I want to watch everything at a leisurely pace and enjoy. And honestly, it’s like $39 for another three months. I can budget for that and afford it.
I sometimes feel like a failure if I don’t hit all my goals, or a certain percentage of them. But I’m not a failure. Honestly, most of these things are just extracurricular. To add a little something to my life. So it’s okay to regroup for a season, for any reason, even when you’re only two weeks in.
Do you allow yourself a regroup?
