Today is my mama’s birthday! She doesn’t read this blog; honestly, she probably doesn’t even know about it— but I want to wish her the best day!
My mom has been through a lot in her years, and right now she’s struggling with some knee issues and going to PT. I don’t like her being in pain and I’m hoping she finds some relief from that soon.
Every year in the recent past I have taken off some time from work around my mom’s birthday. I see her almost every day, but during these days off I try to make time for more intentional interactions. Do something special to celebrate her!
June Staycation
This year, I took off Friday, today and tomorrow. So far we’ve had a video chat with her British pen pal (for over 60 years!) Dianne and her husband Ken on Friday, gone out to breakfast at a local diner on Saturday, and I’ve done some long asked for chores/acts of service for her (Sunday). We also dropped off my Jeep yesterday to get the AC repaired (today, hopefully).
Today, the plan is to go out to dinner at Longhorn (our tradition for birthdays), hopefully with our cousin Vickie. The weather forecast is not looking pretty but that’s okay. We’ll still have a nice time celebrating her birthday.
Also, I wrote a haiku for her card, which is one of my goals, so way to multi-task!
And tomorrow I have annual plumbing inspection in the morning then we’ll see for the rest of the day. Weather a little iffy there too. Maybe a Rita’s Gelati if the rain holds off (if you know, you know).
I’m enjoying this time off. It’s good to get a little longer of a weekend from time to time. A chance to reset before starting up at work again. It doesn’t need to be a whole week to be restful and fun. Having at least one anchor event a day is a nice balance.
Pie, I wish you peace, positivity and comfort, this year and always!
Happy Birthday!
