Monday Musings: July Goals

Summer is in full swing! We’re just getting through a nasty heatwave, thank goodness it’s almost over and fingers crossed we don’t get another one like it! I’m here for normal summer temps! While I want to slay my goals, I also want to enjoy my Low Maintenance Summer.

June was good for goals. My Google sheet says 80% though a couple of them were stretch checkmarks… And I think I tweaked a couple of goals again, but don’t ask me which ones. And a couple were postponed too.

My curriculum was a little less successful than it was in May, but I loved my Junk Journal art unit and am low key obsessed now! I’m doing Junk Journal July as one of my goals for this month— following old prompts because the YT/IG creator (@megjournals) isn’t hosting it anymore. I struggled with The Artist Way, and still am honestly… might DNF it.

Also I totally failed at the 30 Day Challenge, so reattempting again this month and so far I’m doing good. I scaled it way back from what I wanted to try in June. I wrote a post about it HERE. TBD if this will help me with anything at all…

Reading List

Last month I got a couple of my holds from the Libby app that weren’t on my list last month. Dolly All The Time by Annabel Monaghan and Our Perfect Storm by Carley Fortune. I finished Dolly All The Time a couple of days ago and LOVED! 5 stars! And I forgot to include the audio book of Bossypants by Tina Fey on last month’s list. Was good, I liked it. A strong 4 stars.

On the TBR for July is:

  • Our Perfect Storm by Carley Fortune
  • No More Secrets by Lucy Score
  • Ultimate Veg by Jamie Oliver
  • Lazy Genius Way by Kendra Adachi – reread
  • Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes
  • The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron
I’m trying a new planning method for scheduling when and how I’m tackling goals this month. Basically, any one time steps I’m scheduling to a certain date. Anything that either happens once a week, or has multiple steps that I can spread across the month with a different task each week goes into weekly tasks. And then things I want to do daily or regularly, I’m putting in the daily habit tracker. I’m feeling positive about it and will report back next month with how it went!
What goals are you working on in July?
