Last month I introduced a new series HERE, where as a side quest from my forever home search I’d create moodboards as a way to reintroduce my creative mind to the task of seeing the potential in home listings. And today I’m sharing my first one!

How To: Style for/from Real Life
We’ve all seen those rooms, styled to perfection, filling up our Pinterest and IG feeds. But c’mon, that’s not real life. Or it’s not a real fun life… yet I’m still guilty of lusting after them, aspiring to have my house look like that. But it’s just never gonna be how I live real life. And, honestly, I am totally okay with that. I’d rather actually live in my home, than exist in a Pinterest perfect house.

In honor of my home-iversary this month, and my future home dreaming and scheming project that I’m tackling this quarter, I thought it would be fun, and helpful, to start a new series on the blog where I create moodboards for reimagined rooms, primarily in homes that catch my eye as I begin online house hunting.

Today is 11 years since I signed on the dotted line. Has it been a walk in the park? Nope. Would I do it again? Definitely.

Oh boy, this makeover has been a long time coming! And truth be told, it still is to come… first, some background info, then what happened to derail my plans. And some progress photos in between.

Last month I shared my project punch list for March HERE and that I was going to continue doing this every month, but I thought this time I’d try sharing a whole quarter’s worth of house projects instead! Honestly, I’m overwhelmed already…

I’m not afraid to mix metals. In fact, I kinda love it. I’ll wear gold and silver jewelry together, and I mix and match metals in my home too. It gives a space (and an outfit) a more fun/playful/hip/casual vibe and I’m all about that. Other materials can also be juxtaposed for a similar effect, like mixing different wood tones. I know, shocking! Hear me out!

In last week’s post, I reflected on being a weekend warrior and shared my approach to projects HERE. As I wrote that post, I realized that maybe I need some accountability to get those projects completed. So, at the beginning of each month, I plan to share the projects I’m hoping to accomplish! And maybe a report card on how I did on the previous month’s projects… first up, what’s slated for March?

Last month I shared the first post of my new “Reflecting on…” series. My intent with this series is to close out each month with a reflection on something. Some months might be a personal reflection, like I did HERE when I shared my thoughts on being 41 before I turned 42; others might be related to home stuff, like I’m intending for this post. Honestly, I’m not sure what will flow from my fingers today as I take some time to reflect on… being a Weekend Warrior!
